Clearly a goldmine for Apple. In the past 3 years, I've had one break near the magnetic end and one near the wall plug end. A third just mysteriously quit working, though it looks brand new. I am very careful with these cords, but it makes no difference.

A protective shield that could be placed around the cable would be great if someone knows where one can be found. So I'm having the same problem as thousands of others.

I lived in the US ten years ago and plugged my UK purchased Toshiba laptop into the mains using an ordinary travel adaptor that you get in an airport etc and it worked fine.
